Infection concerns are speeding up the transition away from “dirty money”

In early March 2020, I withdrew some $20 bills from my neighbourhood ATM. It was a standard habit, in the before times — to have a bit of what a friend calls “walking around money” for a quick purchase, parking meters or an appreciative donation for a busker.
