Do I look fat in these glasses?

My husband recently made an observation about my new eyewear that has shaken me to the core.

A little background: I am 67 years old and retired. I am NOT the sort of person who reads fashion magazines or follows trends.

Most of my time, I wear jeans and t-shirts, and when I do dress up, it’s age-appropriate and conservative all the way. Definitely no “mutton dressed up as lamb” as my dear departed grandmother would say. And most days, no reason to dress up at all.

The photo above shows my go-to pair of glasses — progressives with three different lens strengths depending on the distance. Light (titanium) and comfy.

But sadly, the newspapers seem to be reducing the print size in the funnies, and after about four years I determined that it was time for a new prescription.

So I dutifully consulted the local optometrist, and he concurred that a little boost was warranted for my near vision prescription.

Accordingly, I told the technician I’d like to replace the lenses in my existing glasses, since I’m so happy with them and they’re good as…
