We’re all gonna die
In which the author shares her struggle with keeping up with the (continually grim) headlines
I have decided that keeping current with the news is bad for my health.
In the last week I have learned that:
· A massive container ship lost power, hit a bridge, and sent innocent workers plunging to an icy, watery death
· Terrorists gunned down innocent concert-goers and set fire to the hall, and then four men accused of being the perpetrators were tortured by the law enforcement personnel who brought them to trial. Before the trial.
· Innocent women, men and especially children are starving and stripped of all human dignity in Gaza, where truth has also gone to die.
· A young mother was hounded by baseless social media trolls until she was forced to shut them down by sharing a frightening cancer diagnosis, despite the impact this might have on her innocent children.
· The invasion and siege of Ukraine drags on, with innocent civilians still paying an horrific price.
· A mother orca died after becoming stranded on the west coast of Vancouver Island, leaving her calf to circle the bay with repeated calls of distress.
